KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — The Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR) has confirmed that no by-elections will be held for the parliamentary seats of Pandan and Setiawangsa.
Following the resignations of former MPs Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. SPR chairman Dato’ Sri Ramlan Harun said the commission received official notification.
From Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul regarding the vacancies under Article 51 of the Federal Constitution. However, based on Article 54(1).
The Speaker informed SPR that there was no requirement to fill the unexpected vacancies. Johari earlier confirmed that both resignations took effect on May 18 after notices were submitted to Parliament.
