GEORGE TOWN, May 22 — Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng has called on former Penang exco Phee Boon Pohto help resolve the controversy.
Surrounding the RM1 billion Jelutong landfill rehabilitation project and the proposed 70-acre sea reclamation in front of Persiaran Karpal Singh.
Lim said Phee, who previously oversaw the environment portfolio from 2008 to 2023, played a significant role when the Joint Development Agreement was signed in February 2020.
He argued that elected representatives should prioritise public concerns, including objections raised by local residents against the reclamation project.
According to replies in the Penang State Legislative Assembly, the project involving PLB Engineering Berhad remains pending environmental approval.
After the Environmental Impact Assessment report was reportedly rejected multiple times between 2024 and 2026.
