GEORGE TOWN, May 22 — Police have classified the case involving a local man found unconscious in a drain along Jalan Kedah, George Town, as a sudden death.

The incident was reported to the Northeast District Police Headquarters at about 9.26am today following a public complaint.

Initial investigations found the deceased was a 37-year-old Malaysian man from Kapar, Selangor, believed to be homeless and staying near the area where he was discovered.

A forensic examination conducted at the scene and on the body found no signs of criminal elements. The body has been sent to the Forensic Department of Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.

Scheduled tomorrow. Police have opened a Sudden Death Report (SDR) for further investigation.
