GEORGE TOWN, May 23 — Penang police expect around 1.9 million vehicles to enter and pass through the state during the long holiday period from May 27 to June 2.
Covering Hari Raya Aidiladha, Wesak Day and the King’s Official Birthday celebrations. Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said the Royal Malaysia Police will intensify traffic monitoring and enforcement.
Under the “Pre-Emptive Services and Total Enforcement” approach. Authorities will focus on congestion hotspots and accident-prone areas.
Including Jalan Teluk Air Tawar, Jalan Perusahaan Perai, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
A total of 145 traffic officers will be deployed, with strict action against speeding, emergency lane misuse, phone use while driving and dangerous overtaking offences.
