KUCHING, May 24 — Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching today officiated the Kuching District Safe Internet Campaign Community Carnival.
Organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC). The programme attracted over 500 participants including students, university youths and local communities.
Focusing on digital literacy and online safety awareness. MCMC said the campaign aims to protect children and families from cyber threats while promoting responsible internet usage.
During the event, Teo revealed that online scam losses in Malaysia rose to RM2.9 billion in 2025 involving more than 74,000 cases.
Teo also highlighted the upcoming enforcement of the Child Protection Code and Risk Mitigation Code under the Online Safety Act beginning June 1, 2026.
