NANNING, May 27 — Penang Port Commission (PPC) is seeking deeper collaboration with China to strengthen digital transformation and build a smarter regional maritime ecosystem.
PPC chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said future maritime competitiveness will depend on digital intelligence, governance capability and regional cooperation rather than physical infrastructure alone.
Speaking at the Dialogue of Jointly Explore Port AI & Digital Transformation, Yeoh highlighted PPC’s newly launched e-Penang Dangerous Cargo and Free Zone platform.
Which began operations on May 1, 2026. He said the system improves operational efficiency, transparency and compliance through real-time digital monitoring.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke also stressed the importance of Malaysia-China maritime cooperation in enhancing regional connectivity.
