GEORGE TOWN, May 28 — In conjunction with World Ovarian Cancer Day 2026, Dr Tang WH highlighted the importance of recognising the subtle warning signs of Ovarian Cancer.
Often referred to as a “silent killer”. He explained that symptoms such as persistent bloating, abdominal discomfort.
Feeling full quickly and changes in urinary habits are frequently overlooked or mistaken for common digestive or hormonal issues, leading to delayed diagnosis.
Dr Tang said ovarian cancer is often detected at a later stage because early tumours are difficult to identify and current screening methods remain limited.
He noted that genetics, age, family history and obesity are among the main risk factors, while advances in targeted therapies such as PARP inhibitors.
And anti-angiogenic treatments have improved patient outcomes and quality of life. He stressed that women should seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
Adding that early recognition can make a meaningful difference in treatment success and survival rates.
