KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has launched an investigation into the derailment of a Rapid KL train on the Ampang–Sri Petaling Line near Chan Sow Lin station.
Examining the cause, safety systems, maintenance records and compliance with operating procedures. The incident, reportedly caused by a faulty track switch, disrupted services.
But all 25 passengers were safely evacuated without injuries. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has directed APAD to impose the maximum penalty on Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.
And warned against a “business-as-usual” approach. Rapid KL has deployed additional staff, activated alternative train services and provided free shuttle buses while repairs continue.
Commuters have also called for improved track maintenance, citing concerns over ageing infrastructure and recurring rail-related issues.
