KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — The Ministry of Finance Malaysia has warned that individuals caught using another person’s MyKad to claim BUDI MADANI RON95 fuel subsidies.
Could face a fine of up to RM20,000, three years’ imprisonment, or both under the National Registration Regulations 1990.
The warning follows a recent case in Kedah involving the alleged misuse of MyKad numbers to purchase subsidised fuel.
The ministry has directed petrol station operators to strictly enforce MyKad verification procedures and investigate any breaches of standard operating procedures.
BUDI95 recipients are also encouraged to monitor their transaction records and report unauthorised transactions immediately.
The ministry stressed that it will continue monitoring subsidy claims nationwide and take firm action against any abuse of the targeted subsidy programme.
