KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has urged Malaysians to uphold and practise the principles of the Rukun Negara.
Warning that anyone who rejects its values is not worthy of being regarded as a Malaysian citizen. Speaking during the investiture ceremony in conjunction with his official birthday.
The King said national unity, mutual respect and tolerance remain essential to Malaysia’s stability and prosperity.
He also reminded Malaysians of the lessons from the May 13, 1969 racial riots and warned against the misuse of social media and artificial intelligence to spread slander, hatred and misinformation.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil echoed the call, urging politicians and the public to embrace the spirit of the Rukun Negara and safeguard national harmony.
