GEORGE TOWN, June 5 — A long-term traffic diversion will be implemented along Jalan Tengah from June 7, 2026 until December 31, 2028 to facilitate construction works for the Penang Mutiara Line LRT project.
The 24-hour diversion will affect both directions of Jalan Tengah, involving stretches between Petron and the inner road of Giant Bayan Baru towards the airport.
As well as from Caltex Bayan Baru to the exit junction of SK Seri Permai towards Sungai Ara. Authorities said the diversion is necessary for bored pile, pile cap and structural works.
Under the Mutiara Line CMC1 package. Motorists are advised to follow traffic signage and instructions from on-site personnel throughout the 938-day construction period.
