KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — Johor Perikatan Nasional chairman Sahruddin Jamal has confirmed that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is not expected to contest in the upcoming Johor state election.
Sahruddin said there have been no discussions within Johor PN regarding Muhyiddin contesting any state seat, dismissing speculation following the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly.
He added that the coalition is unlikely to field national-level political heavyweights, preferring instead to rely on its existing state leadership.
Sahruddin also confirmed his intention to defend the Bukit Kepong seat for a third term and said seat negotiations among PN component parties are nearing completion ahead of the election.
