BATU PAHAT, June 7 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said holding the Johor state election was not his preferred option.
Stressing that the federal government’s priority remains addressing economic challenges and improving the people’s welfare.
Speaking at the launch of Pakatan Harapan’s Johor election machinery, Anwar said Malaysia is still facing global uncertainties.
Including rising tariffs, energy price pressures and ongoing tensions in the Middle East. He said the government would have preferred to focus on economic recovery rather than election.
But respected Johor’s decision to dissolve its State Assembly. Anwar also urged political parties to prioritise stability and development.
While calling for an end to practices that require citizens to queue for government assistance, favouring direct aid transfers instead.
