LOS ANGELES, June 8 — Malaysian contestant Jamie Tan won the “World Cup Cookoff” challenge on Season 16 of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet with a roti canai dish.

Inspired by her family and Malaysian heritage. Representing Team Asia-Pacific, the 27-year-old prepared roti canai.

With Malaysian coconut curry, coconut rice and cucumber-pineapple salad in just 60 minutes. The dish was first named the best in her region.

Before defeating entries from Europe, Africa and the Americas. Judge Gordon Ramsay praised the ambitious effort.

Noting the dish typically takes hours to prepare. Tan said the recipe honoured her father, who often cooked the curry for her before heading to work.
