PUTRAJAYA, June 9 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a nationwide crackdown on foreigners allegedly abusing tourist and student visas to operate businesses illegally in Malaysia.
He said multiple agencies, including Bank Negara Malaysia, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC), local councils and the Immigration Department.
Will coordinate enforcement efforts. Anwar stressed that repeated warnings had been ignored and firm action was now necessary.
He also instructed Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to coordinate enforcement while encouraging public reporting of suspected violations.
