BAYAN LEPAS, January 11 — Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir today officiated the NCER Technology and Innovation Centre (NTIC).
Positioning it as a catalyst for the Northern Region’s high-value semiconductor ecosystem. A key initiative under the centre is the Advanced Packaging Institute and Research Centre (APIRC).
Which focuses on advanced semiconductor packaging, prototyping and technology commercialisation.Akmal said APIRC aims to attract RM8.5 billion in new investments.
And develop 12 local advanced packaging companies by 2030. He added that the initiative will help Malaysia move beyond traditional assembly and testing activities into higher-value areas.
Such as IC design, automation, R&D and advanced manufacturing. Since 2023, NTIC has facilitated RM70 billion in investments. Supported 68 local companies and developed 1,452 highly skilled talents across the Northern Corridor Economic Region.
