KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — United Malays National Organisation (Umno) will continue supporting the Unity Government formed after the 15th General Election until the next general election.
In line with the decree of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim. Secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was made during the party’s Supreme Council meeting.
He stressed that the federal Unity Government agreement does not bind state governments, noting that Johor’s administration was established before the coalition’s formation.
Asyraf also rejected claims that defending state mandates amounts to betrayal, describing it as a legitimate democratic process.
He added that Umno remains open to political cooperation based on sincerity and trust.
