KUALA PILAH, June 14 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has urged the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) to engage social media platforms in tackling fake news and misinformation.
Ahead of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections. Fahmi said concerns have grown over fabricated content.
Including the misuse of local media logos to create fake reports and graphics online. He added that a joint initiative involving the MMC and media organisations.
Will be announced during the upcoming HAWANA 2026 celebration in Penang. The minister also called on social media platforms to respond more quickly to reports of election-related misinformation.
