GEORGE TOWN, June 18 — The Penang government has requested an update from Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre Sdn Bhd regarding the status and future plans for the proposed mixed-development project on Lot 10011, Jalan Zainal Abidin/Lorong Selamat.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the 99-year leasehold site was granted planning approval in 2014 and 2019 for a 21-storey development comprising hospital facilities, a hotel and supporting amenities.
However, no construction has commenced and no new development applications or amendments have been submitted to Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang(MBPP).
As the previous planning approval has expired, any future implementation of the project will require fresh applications and approvals.
The state has formally sought clarification from KLIDC on the project’s current direction.
