KAZAN, June 18 — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed strong bilateral ties during a meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit.
Putin said Malaysia and Russia are approaching the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027 with a solid foundation of cooperation, noting that bilateral trade grew 12.9 per cent in 2025.
He highlighted collaboration in education, science, technology, tourism and cultural exchanges. Anwar, meanwhile, expressed appreciation for Russia’s consistent stance on Gaza and Iran.
Praising Moscow’s support for ceasefire efforts, humanitarian access and diplomatic solutions. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and the Russia-ASEAN strategic partnership.
