KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has strengthened security measures on its RTMKlik platform to prevent overseas users from accessing FIFA World Cup 2026 broadcasts through VPN services.
Director-General of Broadcasting Ashwad Ismail said RTM’s technical team is conducting round-the-clock monitoring and regularly upgrading the platform’s backend system.
To comply with FIFA broadcasting rights agreements. He added that geoblocking measures are being enforced to ensure World Cup content remains accessible only within Malaysia.
RTMKlik has recorded between 1.5 million and 2.5 million views per match, while RTM and its broadcast partner Unifi TV continue to provide coverage of all 104 matches of the tournament.
