PUTRAJAYA, June 22 — The MADANI Government has announced the nationwide implementation of BUDI Diesel from July 1. Introducing a MyKad-based targeted subsidy system that will allow eligible Malaysians to purchase diesel at RM2.10 per litre.
Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the reform standardises diesel subsidy mechanisms across the country while ensuring subsidies are enjoyed only by Malaysians.
Under the new system, diesel will be sold at market prices nationwide, with subsidies channelled directly to eligible users through MyKad verification at petrol stations.
Key Highlights of BUDI Diesel:
- Subsidised diesel price reduced from RM2.15 to RM2.10 per litre.
- Around 700,000 private diesel vehicle owners expected to benefit.
- 200-litre monthly fuel quota for eligible recipients.
- Additional 100 litres available for approved diesel pickup and SUV owners.
- Existing BUDI Diesel cash recipients will be automatically migrated to the new system.
- Early access begins on June 27 ahead of the full rollout.
The government said the initiative aims to reduce subsidy leakages, abuse and smuggling while ensuring assistance reaches those who genuinely need it.
Existing subsidy schemes for fishermen, farmers, commodity smallholders and public transport operators will remain in place under separate programmes.
Eligible motorists can check their status and monthly quota through the BUDI MADANI portal from today.
