GEORGE TOWN, June 22 — Wong Hon Wai has received the Outstanding State Tourism Leader Award at the Asian Hospitality & Tourism Awards 2025–2026.
Becoming the only elected representative recognised this year. Wong said the award reflects the collective efforts of Penang’s tourism ecosystem, including industry players, airlines, hoteliers and event organisers.
He highlighted growing international air connectivity, stronger visitor arrivals and expanding MICE activities as key drivers of the state’s tourism success.
Several Penang-based organisations also received honours, including Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau, Entopia and PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena.
