GEORGE TOWN, June 23 — Penang State Executive Councillor (EXCO) for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai has led a delegation to Shandong, China, to explore the feasibility of a direct Jinan–Penang flight as part of efforts to strengthen Penang’s aviation network.
Wong said the new route would complement the existing Qingdao–Penang service and improve access to northern China’s large tourism market.
He noted that Penang is currently connected to nine major Chinese cities through direct flights and charter services.
With Penang International Airport handling over 8.3 million passengers in 2025 and expansion works underway, Penang is positioning itself for future tourism and aviation growth.
