GEORGE TOWN, June 25 — Google Malaysia has launched Project Sigma 2.0 and Project Berita at HAWANA 2026 to support newsroom innovation and prepare Malaysia’s media industry for the AI era.
Project Sigma 2.0 will help up to 20 news organisations better engage Gen Z audiences through new content strategies and experimentation.
Meanwhile, Project Berita focuses on building AI and newsroom management skills for students, journalists and media leaders.
The initiatives are being implemented in collaboration with the Communications Ministry and Majlis Media Malaysia.
With support from universities and industry partners to strengthen the long-term sustainability of Malaysian journalism.
