SINGAPORE, May 25 — Consumers across Southeast Asia are becoming more deliberate in their spending habits as geopolitical uncertainty.

And weaker financial confidence influence purchasing decisions, according to a new study by Milieu. The survey found 54 per cent of respondents.

Now describe their approach as “spend wisely”, while 53 per cent expect to be more careful with spending over the next three months.

The study revealed that 51 per cent have reduced spending on non-essential items due to global conflicts and political instability.

While 46 per cent are saving more as a precaution. Malaysia ranked second in the region for saving intentions at 42 per cent.

Despite broader caution, health and wellness spending remained resilient, while travel plans declined significantly.

Researchers said consumers are increasingly prioritising value, quality and financial security amid ongoing global uncertainty.
