GEORGE TOWN, June 26 — Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Pengkalan Kota YB Wong Yuee Harng has defended the Unity Government’s progress on the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).
Accusing Gerakan of criticising reforms despite failing to secure similar breakthroughs while in government.
In a statement, H’ng said the government led by Anwar Ibrahim had taken a “historic first step” by allowing eligible UEC holders meeting SPM Bahasa Melayu.
And History requirements to apply to public universities, while gradually expanding access to professional courses.
He also cited Penang’s decade-long recognition of the UEC for state government recruitment as proof that political will can drive reform.
