KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Austrian semiconductor manufacturer AT&S plans to invest up to RM9.4 billion (€2 billion) to expand its operations in Kulim, Kedah.

Further strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional semiconductor hub. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the investment reflects growing global confidence in Malaysia’s economic policies.

Political stability and technology ecosystem. The expansion will include the fitting out of Plant 2 and the construction of a new facility for integrated-circuit substrate cores.

And advanced printed circuit boards. AT&S said the investment is backed by long-term customer commitments, including agreements.

With Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and is expected to create more high-skilled job opportunities for Malaysians.
