GEORGE TOWN, July 2 — Lim Guan Eng has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to return what he described as a RM2.8 billion shortfall in federal allocations to Penang between 2023 and 2025.
Citing figures tabled in Parliament, Lim said Penang contributed RM10.7 billion in federal revenue but received only RM7.9 billion, making it one of only two states that received less than its contribution.
He called for a fair allocation formula based on states’ economic contributions, arguing that Penang should not continue to be disadvantaged in future federal funding.
