GEORGE TOWN, July 4 — Penang’s CAT Hospital Shuttle has recorded strong public response since its launch on January 1, 2026.
With daily ridership increasing from about 300 to nearly 600 passengers within six months. Funded through an annual RM900,000 allocation.
The free service operates daily from 6am to 8pm, with buses every 20 minutes connecting Island Hospital, Hospital Pulau Pinang, Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre.
Another participating hospital and Klinik Kesihatan Macalister. The initiative aims to improve accessibility, reduce traffic congestion and ease parking demand, while ongoing upgrades are being made to enhance accessibility for wheelchair users.
