PUTRAJAYA, July 6 — Anwar Ibrahim has called for an end to the use of political support letters and personal connections in approving loans for entrepreneurs.
Saying the practice has weakened government agencies and contributed to business failures. Speaking at the PUNB SPaRK 2026 programme.
Anwar said financing should be based on commitment and business capability rather than political influence.
He also urged agencies such as Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), TEKUN Nasional and SME Corp Malaysia.
To strengthen coordination and improve Bumiputera entrepreneurship through transparent governance.
