JOHOR BAHRU, July 6 — Anwar Ibrahim said he will raise the issue of Malaysian durian exports with Chinese Premier Li Qiang during his visit to China next month.
Following a sharp decline in durian prices caused by a simultaneous peak harvesting season across Peninsular Malaysia.
Anwar said stronger Malaysia-China trade relations should be leveraged to expand market access for local durian producers, helping improve demand and stabilise farmers’ incomes.
He also reiterated that the government would continue protecting consumers from global fuel price volatility while maintaining targeted subsidies.
Separately, the Prime Minister pledged to resolve the long-standing housing issue affecting second-generation Felda settlers, saying discussions with state governments are necessary.
