KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — The Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) has clarified that the BMW recently used by Anwar Ibrahim is not a new official vehicle.
JPM said the car is an existing government asset belonging to the Protocol and International Conference Secretariat Division, normally used to transport visiting heads of state and government.
It was temporarily assigned to the Prime Minister following police security advice while his official vehicle, bestowed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, undergoes maintenance.
The BMW is equipped with advanced security features, including protection against ballistic, explosive and drone threats.
