KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 — Anwar Ibrahim said his suggestion that the Johor state election should be held on a Sunday was a personal opinion.
Aimed at encouraging higher voter turnout and not an attempt to influence the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC). He said the EC alone has the authority to determine polling dates.
Although Sunday voting would make it easier for Malaysians working in Singapore to return home. Anwar also said he has no plans to contact Lawrence Wong over voting arrangements.
Stressing that Malaysia respects the principle of non-interference in another country’s internal affairs.
