KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Malaysia must expand its port capacity or risk falling behind regional competitors over the next two decades.
He said the planned Port Klang Third Terminal on Carey Island, together with expansions at Port Klang and the Port of Tanjung Pelepas.
Will strengthen Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading maritime hub in Southeast Asia. The Carey Island project, expected to be completed in phases over nearly 20 years.
Is awaiting resolution of land matters before construction begins. Loke added that Malaysian ports continue to record cargo growth despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
