JOHOR BAHRU, July 11 — Barisan Nasional (BN) has secured a simple majority to form the next Johor state government after unofficial results showed the coalition winning more than the 29 seats.
That Iisrequired in the 56-seat State Legislative Assembly. The Election Commission (EC) officially announced its first three seat victories for BN.
With Johor caretaker Menteri Besar and Johor BN chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi retaining the Machap seat, while BN also won Sedili through Muzaide Makmor and Kukup through Md Israk Abdullah.
Earlier, BN chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said unofficial counts indicated the coalition had won more than 40 seats.
Enough to retain control of the Johor government. He added that BN would continue its cooperation with the Federal Unity Government and remain committed to fulfilling its election promises.
