PUTRAJAYA, July 11 — Chief Statistician Mohd Uzir Mahidin said Malaysia’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.0% in May 2026, with 513,400 people unemployed.
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the labour force increased to 17.34 million, while employment rose slightly to 16.82 million.
The services sector continued to be the main source of jobs, and DOSM expects the labour market to remain resilient despite ongoing global supply chain challenges, supported by steady domestic economic growth.
