BUKIT MERTAJAM, July 13 — Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state government will set a final deadline for the concession company to obtain Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval.
For the proposed RM1 billion Jelutong landfill rehabilitation and Persiaran Karpal Singh reclamation project. Chow said no further extensions will be granted if the company fails to meet the requirements.
He added that the state would consider appointing another developer if necessary, stressing that rehabilitation of the former 34-hectare landfill site remains a priority.
