GEORGE TOWN, July 17 — Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng has urged Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to postpone the proposed 20 sen per cubic metre water tariff increase for one year.
Lim said the delay would help ease cost-of-living pressures amid global economic uncertainties. He argued that PBAPP’s pre-tax profit rose from RM23.1 million in the first quarter of 2025.
To RM49.6 million in the same period this year, allowing the utility to absorb the temporary delay. He also suggested seeking federal financial assistance if necessary.
