KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said 75,144 Chinese students, or 19.4% of the country’s 387,406 Chinese secondary school students.
Are enrolled in Chinese independent high schools offering the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) programme.
In a written parliamentary reply, the ministry said 260,699 students (67.3%) are studying in schools under the Ministry of Education.
While 51,563 students (13.3%) attend private education institutions. The UEC, introduced by Dong Zongin 1975, remains unrecognised for general admission.
