GEORGE TOWN, July 19 — Iconic Marjorie Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel has officially launched Southeast Asia’s first Sanrio Peranakan-themed hotel experience in collaboration with Sanrio Southeast Asia.

Introducing specially designed guestrooms inspired by Hello Kitty, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll. The collaboration combines Penang’s rich Peranakan heritage.

With the charm of Sanrio’s globally recognised characters through immersive themed rooms, a specially curated Sanrio Afternoon Tea experience and a range of exclusive official merchandise.

Guests can also purchase limited-edition items including bathrobes, bath towels, toiletries, stationery, teapots, teacups and souvenirs available only at the hotel.

The launch ceremony was witnessed by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, together with representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Marriott International and Sanrio Southeast Asia.

Chow said the collaboration reflects the long-standing relationship between Penang and Japan while introducing a fresh tourism attraction that blends local heritage with international popular culture.

According to Iconic Marjorie Penang, the collaboration builds on a trusted four-year partnership with Sanrio and marks the first time Peranakan-inspired hospitality has been integrated with Sanrio’s iconic characters in Southeast Asia.

The hotel hopes the unique concept will attract families, Sanrio fans and international visitors seeking a distinctive cultural and lifestyle experience in Penang.
