GEORGE TOWN, July 20 — Bukit Mertajam MP and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong commended the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
For dismantling a human trafficking syndicate in Berapit, Bukit Mertajam, and rescuing a 25-year-old Cameroonian woman believed to have been exploited.
Sim called for a comprehensive investigation to ensure everyone involved, including the syndicate’s masterminds, is brought to justice.
He also urged the Home Ministry and PDRM to strengthen enforcement and surveillance against increasingly sophisticated human trafficking and scam syndicates.
He said his parliamentary office will continue working with PDRM and the Immigration Department to monitor the case and support efforts to enhance public safety in Bukit Mertajam.
