KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) says rising living costs, career uncertainty and job mismatches are prompting many young Malaysians to delay marriage.

According to LPPKN Research, Population and Family Division director Adzmel Mahmud, the average marriage age in 2024 increased to 31 for men and 29 for women.’

He warned the trend could shorten reproductive years and affect future birth rates, while urging greater investment in youth employment, affordable living, family support and work-life balance.
