GEORGE TOWN, July 23 — The 6th Electronics Manufacturing Expo Asia (EMAX) 2026 opened in Penang with more than 250 exhibitors from over 20 countries.
Highlighting Malaysia’s growing role in the global electronics and semiconductor industry. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said,
Malaysia recorded a record RM1.796 trillion in total trade during the first half of 2026, an increase of 22.4% year-on-year.
He added that the electrical and electronics (E&E) sector remained the country’s largest export contributor, with exports rising 42.5% to RM467.9 billion. Sim urged manufacturers to reinvest.
In automation, research and development, and talent development to strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness and capitalise on the growing AI and semiconductor industries.
