GEORGE TOWN, July 23 — Penang police have dismantled five international scam syndicates, arresting 108 suspects from eight countries during raids conducted on July 16 and 17.
Across Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungah, George Town, Gelugor and Bukit Mertajam. Penang Police Chief Datuk Dennis Lim said the syndicates targeted victims in China, the United States and Canada.
With one group impersonating FBI, US Department of Justice and Canadian police officers. Police are also seeking a local man known as William to assist investigations.
In a separate operation, police seized 3.1kg of MDMA worth RM470,000 in Teluk Air Tawar and arrested a 37-year-old suspect.
