PETALING JAYA, July 24 — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has denied claims that media organisations were instructed to limit coverage of candidates contesting the Negeri Sembilan state election.
Fahmi said media reporting has remained fair and balanced, with no government directives restricting coverage. He encouraged candidates to engage openly with journalists.
Adding that any difficulties faced by media practitioners were due to some candidates’ unfamiliarity with the media’s role rather than official interference.
His remarks came after calls for equal election coverage ahead of polling on Aug 1.
