GEORGE TOWN, July 26 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia must reconstruct its historical narrative to reflect the sacrifices and experiences of its people.
Rather than perspectives shaped by former colonial powers. Speaking at the reopening of the restored Fort Cornwallis, Anwar said heritage sites should serve as educational spaces.
That teach younger generations about the importance of unity, independence and national resilience. He stressed that preserving colonial-era landmarks is not about glorifying colonialism.
But about understanding history, learning from past hardships and ensuring those lessons remain relevant to Malaysia’s future.
