IPOH, July 27 — Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said solar energy systems introduced at government-aided schools could be expanded to help reduce electricity costs.
The first Net Energy Metering (NEM) 3.0 pilot project at SJK(C) Sam Chai is expected to save the school about RM382,000 over 20 years, or around RM1,500 to RM1,700 monthly.
Under the Zero Capex model, schools pay no installation cost while generating electricity for their own use and selling excess power back to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
