GEORGE TOWN, July 30 — Penang is awaiting a formal claim from the Kedah government over the state’s lease payment before responding, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.
Chow said Penang has yet to receive any official demand despite Kedah’s announcement that its legal and historical documents are ready.
He said it was premature to comment until the claim is filed in court or formally submitted to the Penang government, noting that the lease payment is made by the federal government.
