GEORGE TOWN, August 1 — Police have dismantled an alleged online travel scam call centre operating from a luxury condominium in Tanjung Bungah.
Arresting eight foreign nationals comprising seven men and one woman aged between 25 and 37. The suspects are believed to have offered fraudulent Japan travel packages to victims in China and Taiwan.
Police also seized computers and telecommunications equipment believed to have been used in the operation. The case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 120B of the Penal Code.
With all suspects remanded for three days until Aug 2 to assist investigations.
